Claustrophobia is often regarded as the panicky feeling you get in small enclosed spaces. However, it can be triggered by anything that makes you feel restricted. Social etiquettes. Being forced to live up to other people’s expectations… One slow shovelful of dirt at a time, you become buried and stifled. If only freeing yourself from forced niceties and society’s rules were as easy as throwing open a window. Luckily the world is big. There is a place for you, whether it is a room of your own, or a wide open field.

What a slob, he thought to himself.
She cheerfully pointed to the cupcakes and told him to help himself to one. What he really wanted to say to her was: I don’t like working with you. You make me look bad. You make our team look bad. And you are an embarrassment. Instead he heard himself saying, “That’s very sweet of you. Thank you.”
When he picked one up, he was careful to not let the icing touch his fingers.
